Watervliet Public Library Announces Comic-Con Style Event on May 9, 2026
Watervliet, NY — The Watervliet Public Library is excited to announce FandomFest, its first-ever comic-con style community celebration, taking place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the library. Fans of comics, sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, movies, art, and pop culture are invited for a free, family-friendly day of creativity, cosplay, and community fun.
The event will feature a variety of attractions and activities for all ages, including:
- Local comic artists, illustrators, and authors
- Cosplay meet-ups and a friendly costume showcase
- Tabletop and card game stations
- DIY craft workshops
- Collectibles vendors and community organizations
- Photo backdrops and facepaint
- Raffles, giveaways, and more surprises throughout the day
“This event brings together creativity, storytelling, and community—three things that libraries support every day,” said the Library Director. “We’re thrilled to offer a space where fans of every age can celebrate what they love.”
Admission is free, and costumes are encouraged (but not required). Additional details will be posted on the library’s website and social media channels as the event approaches. Registration is required.
